film review

On the 14th of November my class went to go see the Toki
Pounamu Film Festival we pretty much just watched a whole
bunch of films from different schools. I think that the film festival
was pretty good because we got time off work at school and it
was just good to relax and watch the films.

The editing of the Paroa School song was pretty good, like when
they switched the scenes. It was cool that they got some drone
footage because most of the films were just filmed on the
ground . The sound quality was good as well.  The only bad
thing was that they repeated the song a bit too much.

I think the film festival was too environmental. Maybe next time
people could actually make fun films instead of just being vsco
girls and talking about global warming and saving the
environment.

Today we made a ScreenCastify about some work we had completed. Then we had to embed it onto our blogs. Embedding is quicker than downloading it.

Super Stan Recount

Super Stan Recount
On Wednesday the 7th of August my class and the rest of the
senior school were invited to see the dress rehearsal for a show
called The Amazing Adventures of Super Stan it was in the hall
at Grey Main.

At the start of the show Super Stan fought a Villain called the
Bogeyman and won the fight and when he won the Bogeyman
did an earrape yell (really loud yell) Then DC Stanley Marvels
best friend told Stan to stop daydreaming.

Then the Candy King came to Proton Park and said that he was
going to give everyone a free gobstopper. Stan, DC, and the old
people find out that the Candy King is evil so then his grandma
said that he was so clumsy because he had half of formula 44
inside of him. So she injects the rest of formula 44 into him and
then he turns into Super Stan and she also gives him his grandpa’s
old anti gravity undies so he can fly.

In the next scene Super Stan goes to the Candy King's palace
and Curly and Wurly tell Super Stan about the Candy King’s
plan. After the finish telling Super Stan the Candy King's evil
plan Super Stan fights the Candy King’s Minions  beats them all
and then fights the Candy King he wins and steals his shrink ray
and shrunk the Candy King but before Super Stan shrunk the Candy King he told Stan that he is his grandpa. After that Stan’s grandma said that she regretted being with him and then took him away.

My opinion of this show is that I didn't really like it because it was quite childish and because some of the characters did some really loud noises.

Jake Bailey recount

On the 31th of July the senior school went to see Jake Bailey. He was brought to the West Coast by Life Education. He came here to talk to us about life skills after surviving cancer. He also talked about some other things like resilience, leadership, fears, and bravery. I think he was trying to teach us how to live a better life.

calligans ridge

On Thursday, my class was driven to Lake Daniell for a tramp as part
of the William Pike challenge.

I was in Matt Leviens car, so were Sam, Tyler, Zac, and Cullam. We
left for the tramp at 8:30, It was about a 2 hour drive each way to get
to there, and the walk was about 4 hours so we came back at about 6
o'clock.

When we got to the lake we had lunch and some people went on the
jetty and looked at the lake. Some people also touched the water to
see how cold it was.

We went to Lake Daniell because we were learning about hypothermia
and how to not get lost in the bush?

calligans ridge

At Calligans ridge we did a scavenger hunt and I saw a Tomtit and a
Fantail but I was not really doing the scavenger hunt so I did not see
anything else.

It was raining hard at the start of the walk, but later on it stopped and
that was sortov bad because we had to make bivouacs and we wanted
to test if they could keep the rain out.
So I just shook some trees so the water off them fell on the bivouac.

I enjoyed the end of the walk when I could relax a bit and also slide in
the mud.

book review

The internet is like a puddle
By Shona Innes and Irisz Agocs

Do you like a book about the internet? The book that I have read is about the
internet and the setting is also on the internet.

There isn't really any main character in my book although you do see some of
the animals more than once.

The storyline of my book is about the internet being like a puddle and trying to
connect to the internet to puddles e.g. the internet can be like a puddle
because there are some places that you.

One of the connections I made with the book was in the book it said you can
use the internet for playing games or talking to family and I do those things.

My opinion of the book is that I don’t agree with the book. I do not think the
internet is like a puddle. I would not recommend reading this book because it
is boring. If I did recommend it I would say 5-10 year olds should read it.

comic strip #3

we are learning to represent a te reo message through visual language here is my comic

kea patrol

I strongly believe Kea patrol should be for juniors! Most juniors can't cross the
road by themselves. It would also be easier if there was a zebra crossing.

Firstly, Kea patrol should be for juniors because most seniors can cross the
road by themselves. Seniors probably won't muck around by walking slowly
and talking across the road and most juniors would.

Secondly, I think Kea patrol should be for juniors because if there was no road
patrol at all, the juniors could copy the seniors and run across the road and
they could get hit.

Thirdly, Another reason we don't not need Kea patrol is the school could just
get a Zebra crossing and then you could cross safely at any time and you
would not have to wait for the teachers to be allowed to go down the hill.

In conclusion, I think Kea patrol should be for juniors because they could copy
seniors if there wasn’t Kea patrol. The school could just get a zebra crossing,
and most seniors know how to cross the road on their own.

review mana the spirit of Polynesia

On Friday last week Bernard Mangakahia came to perform Mana The Spirit Of
Polynesia. This show was about dancing. I think the show was alright because
I did not like all the dances and stories.

The part I did not like was the Māori part. It had a poi dance and a haka. I did
not like these because the people in my class have had to learn about Māori
for ages. The part that I liked the most was the Indian hula hoop dance. The
hula hoop dance was about making animals out of hula hoops like putting the
hula hoops around you and making wings or a snake or some other animal.
The hula hoop dance was not exciting but it was pretty cool.

There were some other dances like a Hip Hop dance and a Hawaiian dance.
Bernard also told some stories like when he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and
some stories about his kids and parents.  I would possibly want him to come
back if he did different routines.

potini and Waikiki

onomatopoeia poem

The Proboscis Monkey’s Day
As the proboscis monkey swings through the trees
Swish, swoosh
Swish, swoosh
Tarzan the monkey man
is hanging on a rubber band

                            The wind blows loud
And there's a big rain cloud
and Sticky Joe is cooking some beans
As Shrek is lying under a bridge
He gets up to get a slug from the fridge

As the monkey’s still swinging in the trees
his big fat nose
flops up and down like a hose
So he crashes down from the trees
And falls in a dumpster
and lands on some frozen peas.

nelson mandela

Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela lived in South Africa. Nelson Mandela fought against apartheid and
segregation. Nelson Mandela was against White Supremacists.

Apartheid is a race that is against another race. Segregation is when different races are
separated from different races because of their skin colour. 69 people peacefully
protesting for equal rights in South Africa were killed by the police and that was called
the Sharpeville massacre.

Sometimes change happens in secret. People were going to put Nelson Mandela in jail
because he was standing against what most white South Africans believed and they
wanted to have equal rights.

Nelson Mandela believed that different races could live together and accept each other.
Nelson mandela proved that he was not racist by saying anc was not anti white but they
were against white supremacy. White supremacy is when white people get better rights
than black people and other cultures.

In conclusion I think how this affects us today is different races get to live together and
learn about each other's cultures.

mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi

Gandhi made justice happen in his life when he stopped most of the Indians
from getting their fingerprints put in ink

An eye for a eye ends up making the whole world blind. This means that if we
keep fighting it wood never stop I think that this is a true statement.
Or what I think usually after someone gets revenge then the other person
doesn't get revenge again.

Mahatma Gandhi was born in India in 1869 and was assassinated in 1948.
Mahatma Gandhi was peacefully walking down the street when he was
gunned down by a radical Hindu.

The British government banned the Indians from gathering salt and made the
Indians pay tax for salt so when they brought salt they had to pay for tax as well.

I think Mahatma Gandhi did a good thing fighting for equal rights because
everybody should have equal rights.
